Assignment 1: Cartes-de-Visite

Topic:
What is your belief in youth?

About the shooting:
4 to 6 students in a group
Take one picture to illustrate a story / a state of mind with related to the topic

1) everything selected within the frame, its atmosphere to be created and how to arranged the things should be carefully set
2) think about the connotation behind the objects
3) harmony and balance
4) think about what is the inter-relationship in between or differences of picture and image

You are suggested to

1) use 120 format camera, use either color or B/W, depends whether the color is important to you content
2) repeated shooting the right set in different EV (exposure value) – over and under one step, plus the normal exposure,
3) and take over 20 – 30 frames (depends how many team member) per each of the EV

About the printing:
– Each of the students should have 3- 5 frames of film (of a particular image) for testing and making print
– Print it as a Cartes-de-Visite. The size of a carte de visite is 54.0 mm (2.125 in) × 89 mm (3.5 in) mounted on a card sized 64 mm (2.5 in) × 100 mm (4 in)
– Individually work on the printing
– Explore the best way to interpret your image, no matter scan or develop in darkroom
– Each student make 6 prints

Evaluation:
1) The quality of the print and the visual image
2) Scan and upload the final print onto this blog before 16/2
3) 6 prints should be ready for distribute
4) Presentation in week 4, articulate clearly your approach and idea
5) Comments the images through the website
